Tooth Pain & Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy, also known as endodontic treatment, is often needed in cases where the pulp tissue within a tooth becomes infected due to a large tooth decay. Root canal therapy may also be recommended when a large filling or crown is replaced, cracks or fractures have developed in a tooth, or the tooth has experienced recent or past damage due to injury or trauma.
In a typical endodontic treatment, the infected or damaged tooth material is removed and replaced with a tooth-colored filling or a dental crown to protect against further damage. Most of the time, we recommend this procedure to save the tooth from extraction.
